Medicaid Attestation

Completed and saved within the EMR

Attestation Requirement for Routine Cost Coverage in Clinical Trials

In the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021” amendments were made to Section 1905 of the Social Security Act as it pertains to the coverage of routine patient costs for items and services furnished to a State plan beneficiary in connection with participation in a qualifying clinical trial.

A Bulletin was released Oct. 4th, 2022. There remains outstanding questions, and IU Health will continue to seek additional information. However, previous communication with Indiana FSSA was very clear. For IU Health, the Attestation is to be completed and saved within the EMR. This should take place as soon as the study team receives notification from IU Health, and should not wait for an additional trigger such as study enrollment or a scheduled procedure.

Please review the presentation below for information and guidance on when and how the attestation should be completed and provided to IU Health and Eskenazi Health.
