All IN for Health TrialX Connect

Connecting with research participants

Meeting research recruitment targets can be a challenge, but we have made it easier to engage with potential volunteers through our volunteer network engagement and referral platform. This resource is complimentary to all Indiana CTSI investigators (IU, IU Health, Eskenazi Health, Purdue University, Regenstrief Institute and the University of Notre Dame).

Currently, the registry is comprised of over 14,000 interested volunteers who have indicated their willingness to be contacted (and participate) in research.

All IU studies recruiting volunteers into health-related research are automatically listed in the registry. Other research partners must contact us directly to list their studies on the All IN for Health website.

The All IN for Health TrialX Connect platform is supported by TrialX and managed by the IU School of Medicine and the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.

Study Recruitment

iConnect enables researchers to:

  • Create participant-friendly study pages
  • Receive referrals from potential eligible, interested volunteers that can be tracked within the system
  • Utilize in-depth pre-screening questionnaires to vet potential volunteers
  • Setup and manage recruitment campaigns for a variety of outreach tactics like flyers or online ads
  • Communicate with prospective participants
  • Measure ROI across different outreach channels using trackable phone numbers, links and emails
  • Query for matching prospective participants in the volunteer registry

TrialX Connect Features

  • Reach registry volunteers directly
    • To facilitate higher volumes of connections to registrants, study teams can perform email outreach directly to anonymized registry volunteers who match to their study.
  • Promote your study and make it visible to the public
    • Add an engaging image to your listing to attract your target audience
    • Use word formatting such as bold, italicize, underline, and bullet points to tailor the text to describe your study and make important information stand out
  • Screen, identify and contact potential volunteers
    • Create prescreeners to screen potential participants and narrow down your applicant pool
    • Run searches in the registry of over 14,000 volunteers to identify cohorts that fit your eligibility criterion
    • Send customized outreach messages to those individuals who may qualify for your study
  • Track volunteer outreach and marketing campaigns
    • Use outreach campaigns, including a trackable link to your listing page, scannable QR code, or phone number, to add to your marketing materials and track your referral sources
  • Improved user password complexity
    • Enhanced password complexity requirements for account login provide greater security for all user types. IU users can login using their university credentials (SSO).
  • Search for Volunteers Using Comprehensive Filtering
    • Study teams can view study specific match results from the dashboard and proceed to apply additional filters or initiate the outreach to the matched profiles.
  • Enhanced My Referrals tracking
    • Ability to track each referral outcome and communications directly through the TrialX Connect platform.
  • Study page customization
    • Study teams can customize their pages to include videos, images, and text to highlight their study. Additionally, investigators can upload their profile picture to improve the patient experience.

TrialX Connect Training

Researchers are required to complete TrialX Connect training in order to use the system for recruitment. TrialX Connect training teaches study teams how to use the TrialX Connect platform, allowing teams to:

  1. Assist in the design of the study web page
  2. Send emails and track responses to people interested in the study
  3. Develop a pre-screening questionnaire to determine eligibility of volunteers
  4. Set up and manage outreach campaigns to track promotional methods and referral sources
  5. Search for and send messages to All IN for Health research volunteers based on their profile information
