Request Changes to Cerner (Electronic Medical Record)

If your study requires any of the following, there will need to be additional reviews within the IU Health system.

  • An integration of interface with Cerner
  • Automated extraction of data from Cerner
  • Building new functionality in Cerner.  Examples:
      • Pop up in Cerner
      • Automated alert in Cerner
      • New Ad Hoc Form

IU Health reviews can take some time, so beginning this process EARLY is very important. Ideally, if the project is an investigator-initiated grant, IU Health should be involved through the grant submission process including the protocol writing phase to ensure that IU Health resources are available to move forward with the project.

To initiate this process, a member of the research team should email ISClinicalResearchSupport@iuhealth.org.  An analyst within the IU Health Clinical Research Systems team will guide the research team through the appropriate IS council and approvals needed based on the request.
